Can Costa history dates back to the end of the 20s, when, from the middle of May until the festivity of Saint Mary, Carmeta, la “yaya” (‘granny’) set up a wooden marquee under the name of “Sport” to offer salt cod “a la llauna” and pickled sardines to the bathers in la Barceloneta.
Eventually, it was named Can Costa “el Deporte”, becoming the first masonry refreshment stall on this beach, and therefore gastronomic founder of this area, the so well known la Barceloneta, here and beyond our borders.
Throughout 70 years we have welcomed a really mixed range of people: artists, intellectuals, bullfighters, sportmen, kings, politicians and many, many customers, some good friends now.
All of them have become fond of our way of interpreting the good Mediterranean cuisine and they all have their meeting point here.
Nowadays, the third Costa generation is continuing the tradition on new premises, where we moved after the disappearence of the “stall”, when the application of the Coastline Law.

Authentic Catalan fisherman style cuisine, prepared with wisdom, devotion and liking of those who know how to care for tradition.
Our cooking is, at present, like the one made by my grandmother Carmeta and my mother Mari. Our cooking is plain, tasty and of great quality, with fresh products that Pietro, my husband, and I daily select.
The restaurant, of Mediterranean atmosphere, full of light and cosy, has in the centre a big window facing the kitchen to watch us work the food for the dishes on the menu.
The restaurant is divided in two floors, which allows to hold private meals, business meals or family events, always keeping enough privacy.
The terrace is open the full the year and from here the view over the city seafront and Port Vell is superb.
