· Port Vell.
In 1994 la Rambla de Mar was opened, the wooden footbrige between La Rambla and Muelle de Espanya.
One year later, in 1995, Muelle de Espanya precisely was inagurated, a space known above all for its cultural, recreational, of leisure and commercial offer, with centres like Maremàgnum, Imax Port Vell and Aquàrium.

· Palau de Mar.
The building we know today as the Palau de Mar, where the Museum of the History of Catalonia stands, is the former General Stores, the only building of Barcelona's Old Port still standing. The Stores were designed in 1881 by the engineer Maurici Garrán, the first director of the Barcelona Port Board of Works, and were intended for being used as trading depots.

· Pla de Palau. Pla de Palau was, from the old times, the main square of the commercial Barcelona because it was the entrance of everything that came from the sea, either goods or people. In fact this square led to the only access to the city from the port, through el Portal del Mar "the Sea Gate" [16th century].

· Ciudadela Park. It is situated next to La Ribera quarter, and it is one of the biggest green areas in the old Barcelona. It was a former military fortification [like Montjuïc] to keep the city under control.
The park has a big lake, a really popular waterfall, a botanic garden, a greenhuose for citizen’s use and the Barcelona Zoo.The Barcelona Zoo has 7000 animals from more than 400 different species.
The Geological and the Zoological museums can be found in La Ciudadela.

· Santa María del Mar. Santa María del Mar is a gothic church, situated in La Ribera quarter and built between 1329 and 1383. The work masters were Berenguer de Montagut [main designer of the building] and Ramón Despuig.
Taking into account the outside, this is the only gothic big Catalan church completely finished. On its facades we can find the characteristics of Catalan gothic, which are different from the characteristics of European gothic.
